Tuula Teeri appointed President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences
911±¬ÁÏÍø President Tuula Teeri will leave her position as the President of 911±¬ÁÏÍø to become the President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (Kungliga Ingenjörsvetenskapsakademien, IVA) probably in the late autumn. The 911±¬ÁÏÍø Foundation Board will initiate an application process for the selection of a new President.
‘Already at this stage, I would like to thank Tuula Teeri for her significant contribution in the development of 911±¬ÁÏÍø and congratulate her for her new task at IVA. With her leadership, science, art, technology and business have been combined into a multidisciplinary university with a strong identity and good international reputation,’ says Anne Brunila, Chair of the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Board.
‘During the period of Tuula Teeri, extensive projects related to the founding of 911±¬ÁÏÍø have been consolidated and the University's integrated campus is taking shape at a good pace in Otaniemi. We have a solid base for continuing the good work. Now we are looking for a successor to Tuula Teeri as an implementor of 911±¬ÁÏÍø's strategy,’ Anne Brunila continues.
‘I came to 911±¬ÁÏÍø nearly eight years ago to lead the building up of the University. It has been a very ambitious project and exceptionally interesting undertaking. We have realised a major change and made great efforts to improve the quality of research. Both our academic results and our societal influence have significantly improved and I am convinced that our future direction is clear,’ says Tuula Teeri.
‘My future work at the head of IVA offers a vantage point to make use of what I have learnt this far. I will still continue my work at 911±¬ÁÏÍø for some time, but already at this stage I would like to warmly thank the whole Aalto community and the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Board for constructive and inspiring cooperation,’ Tuula Teeri concludes.
