Nessling Foundation's grants for four Aalto researchers
Aalto's funded researchers and projects are:
Láng-Ritter Josias, Postdoc, Department of Built Environment: The use of open information and tools in the management of transboundary water bodies (OpenWaters).
Kateryna Tsytlishvili, Postdoc, Department of Civil Engineering: A new approach to antibiotic inactivation in wastewater using biosorption and advanced oxidation processes in cold regions.
Pekkinen Simo, Doctoral student, Department of Mechanical Engineering: Green hydrogen storage as an enabler of the hydrogen economy - practical challenges and scaling.
Nicolette Slagle, Doctoral student, Department of Built Environment: Participation of citizens in the remediation of contaminated land
Congratulations!
When evaluating the projects, special attention was paid to how the applicant had been able to connect his / her own research to a broader sustainability breakthrough under the conditions of natural systems. Examples of successful projects here are Kateryna Tsytlishvili's postdoc project, which develops modern, environmentally friendly and efficient methods for handling antibiotics and disinfecting wastewater, and Simo Pekkinen's doctoral thesis, which aims to understand and propose solutions to the limitations related to hydrogen gas storage.
