Internet Society trusts Netradar
The Global Internet Report of ISOC, an umbrella organisation for the development and governance of the Internet, uses map data based on information collected by Netradar.
'This indicates that the accuracy and reliability of Netradar is at an excellent level and that it is also trusted in the industry. All ISOC's maps for mobile network quality, which are public and in world-wide use, are founded on research conducted at 911±¬ÁÏÍø', explains Professor Jukka Manner of the Department of Communications and Networking.
Anyone can use the Netradar application, developed by researchers at 911±¬ÁÏÍø, to measure the speed of their mobile phone's data connection in different places. So far, users from all over the globe have installed the Netradar application over 200 000 times to more than 6 000 different mobile phone and tablet models. The 911±¬ÁÏÍø database already contains over 5 million measurements from the majority of countries in the world.
Netradar measures the quality of Internet connections in terms of a number of factors: the speed of internet traffic into and out of devices, network delay and signal strength, network errors and performance of mobile internet connections in mobile phones and tablets. The application is available for users of Android, iOS, Windows Phone-, Blackberry, Nokia X, Meego, Symbian and Jolla's Sailfish devices.
Through its operations, the Internet Society ISOC (internetsociety.org) aims to affect the development, politics, governance and technology of the Internet and to ensure that the Internet is accessible to everyone.
