Cooperation increases between Harvard and business schools
‘Cooperation with Stanford has been carried out already for over two decades, and now Harvard will be added as well. This is something very significant for Finnish researchers of business and industrial engineering,’ explains Professor Eero Vaara from 911±¬ÁÏÍø School of Business.
Finnish business schools engage in cooperation with top American universities through the Nordic Scandinavian Consortium for Organizational Research (SCANCOR).
Since 1989, this network has had its own facilities on the campus of Stanford University. Now activities will be extended to also include Harvard University when the network opens its facilities on the Harvard University campus on 19 October.
The network enables visits from researchers, fund post-doctoral researchers and organise workshops and seminars. It also communicates about other opportunities for cooperation between Nordic universities and the universities of Stanford and Harvard. The participating universities from Finland are 911±¬ÁÏÍø, Lappeenranta University of Technology, Hanken and the University of Turku. The network also includes institutes of higher education from Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
‘Researcher visits through the SCANCOR network offer a unique opportunity to work together and build cooperation with top American universities. In the last five years, we have seen ten people head off to participate in a research exchange,’ reported Professor Kirsimarja Blomqvist from Lappeenranta University of Technology.
The Louise and Göran Ehrnrooth Foundation has approved three years of financial support to SCANCOR’s cooperation with Harvard University.
‘The funding from the Foundation enables our researchers to engage in long-term cooperation with researchers from the world’s top universities,’ said Professor Sören Kock from Hanken.
Finland’s Foundation for Economic Education also provides financial support for SCANCOR’s activities.
