Card illustrations made by students for the Finnish Refugee Council
Students Milja Komulainen and Ella Eskola illustrated a series of cards for the Finnish Refugee Council’s product family.
Eskola and Komulainen are first year students in the Visual Communication Design programme at the School of Arts, Design and Architecture. They say the illustrations reflect Finnish Refugee Council's nature of work.
“Our aim was to portray the work of Finnish Refugee Council, as well as the people involved in the charity’s projects, in a joyful and energetic way. It was important for us to avoid the old-fashioned imagery of developing countries. The illustrations have been cut out of paper by hand and then edited digitally. A joint technique and colour scheme ensured that the work of two illustrators turned into a coherent series,” Eskola and Komulainen describe.
The illustrations are on display in the Harald Herlin learning centre (Otaniementie 9, Tori, 1. floor) from 30 November to 14 December 2018.
