Associate Professor Tapio Lokki has been nominated as honorary member of the Acoustical Society of Finland

Lokki has served as a secretary of the Acoustical Society from 1999 to 2001 and as a member of the Board since 2002.
Tapio Lokki nostaa kuulokkeita korviltaan

has nominated Associate Professor Tapio Lokki as an honorary member in recognition of his outstanding and longstanding work for the Society and for the field of acoustics in Finland.

Professor Lokki has served as a secretary of the Acoustical Society from 1999 to 2001 and as a member of the Board since 2002. He has been the President of the Society from 2005 to 2018. In addition, he was the general secretary of European Acoustics Association (EAA). Professor Lokki has organized, among other things, ten times the national conference Akustiikkapäivät, scientific articles of which form the only open access Finnish literature in the field of acoustics.

Professor Lokki has actively popularized science and made a significant contribution to promoting acoustics in Finland. His most recent works outside the academic world are the conceptual design of the music clubs and implementing virtual acoustics in these clubs with his research team.

In addition, Professor Lokki has designed one exhibit and created an immersive sound environment for the . Lokki and his research group are collaborating with the Acoustics Lab, which gathers researchers of the 911±¬ÁÏÍø working with sound.

The Acoustical Society is a link between people interested in acoustics

The Acoustical Society of Finland (founded 1943) serves as a liaison between people interested in acoustics, such as phonetics, physiologists, physicists, engineers, musicians and students. The association aims to develop acoustics research, education, publishing and the Finnish vocabulary.

The Society has over 200 members and unites major part of practitioners of acoustics in Finland. The Society's main event is the biennial Akustiikkapäivät, the world's only Finnish-language acoustics conference.
