A statutory inspection of the health, safety and well-being of the study environment is carried out in higher education institutions every three years. This year, there will be a single inspection for the whole 911±¬ÁÏÍø. The Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS) has the coordination responsibility. The inspections are carried out in cooperation with the students, the university staff and the municipality's health inspector.

The inspection includes a well-being survey sent to all students. The answers to the survey give important information on how the students are doing in the student communities. The students answer the survey anonymously and then automatically receive feedback and instructions based on their answers. The answers are used to create a report for FSHS healthcare professionals, University and student representatives. The report will be utilized both locally and nationally. This study environment inspection focuses on issues such as do students have time to eat between lectures, does the university environment support the possibility of physical activity and do the students experience inappropriate treatment within the student communities. Issues that need development may be related to themes such as a safe studying environment or a framework for organizing studies.

FSHS invites all students to answer the well-being questionnaire as part of the inspection from October 27 2025 to November 10 2025, when the link is open for

Students’ opportunities for language learning to expand from autumn 2026

Founded in 2025, KiePe – Network for Language Centre Pedagogy, Teaching and Research – will broaden the range of language courses available to students at universities in the Helsinki metropolitan area. The KiePe network, composed of the University of Helsinki, 911±¬ÁÏÍø, the University of the Arts Helsinki, and Hanken School of Economics, will offer their students the chance to take elective language courses at any of the network universities in the future.
Students will be able register for courses via the cross-institutional studies service (RIPA) from autumn 2026. By autumn 2028, the study paths of the network universities will be harmonised to some extent, which will make cross-institutional studies even easier.
Students wishing to take language courses outside their home university can register for language courses offered by the network universities through the cross-institutional studies service and view the course offerings on the universities’ websites. More detailed information about the course offering and registration practices will be provided in August 2026.
