The State Art Commissions have awarded the 2023 State Prizes to deserving artists and creative communities. The State Commission for Architecture and Design awarded Nomaji for its distinguished and pioneering work in the areas of high-quality landscape architecture, regenerative design and holistic sustainability. 911±¬ÁÏÍø researcher and long-time lecturer Mari Ariluoma is a partner in Nomaji, and researcher Caroline Moinel a Nomaji designer.

Founded in 2015, Nomaji is a landscape architecture practice that is based on the design of high-quality environments, holistic regenerative design and an ecological perspective. The driving force behind Nomaji's landscape architecture is the well-being of the living world and thus the creation of a comfortable, livable earth and living environments for people. Their designs create solutions to the massive challenges of growing environmental crises, such as urban flooding, nature cover, the heat island effect and rising social inequalities.

Nomaji's design work ranges from large-scale production of park and courtyard designs to green building plans for entire cities. Recent projects include Kaapelipuisto (2023), Uusikaupunki Blue Green Infrastructure and Ecosystem Services (2022), Helsinki Summer Streets (2022), Kintterö Health Forest (2021-2022), Postinkantaja Common Yard (2022), Sipoonlahti School Yard (2020) and Keilaniemi Waterfront Vision (2020).

The justification for the State Prize says that actors like Nomaji are needed to create hope in the fields of architecture and landscape architecture, and by extension in society at large, to solve environmental problems created over the last 100 years.

This year, The State Art Commissions awarded a total of fifteen State Prizes to deserving artists and creative communities. These include the State Prize for Social Impact in the Arts, which was awarded for the second time.
