Computing Systems

We design and develop the fundamental technologies for the convergence of computing, data, intelligence, and connectivity from distributed infrastructures that form the foundation of our modern information society. We ensure that the systems we rely on every day are fast, secure, resilient, intelligent, and sustainable.

At the core of our research is the distributed converged "engine room" of the digital world. We develop the foundations of distributed convergence and continuum computing systems for how thousands of devices, machines and people communicate and coordinate their works, how data is processed and turned into valuable knowledge to enable intelligence and autonomy, and how we ensure such complex computing systems operate secure, reliable, and performant. 

Our expertise spans the entire spectrum of the computing continuum: from massive supercomputers and cloud services, to edge systems, to everyday smart objects, embedded systems, and the frontier of quantum computing. Our work ensures that the underlying infrastructure remains efficient, resilient, and trustworthy for the real-world massive data flows and workloads of AI, enterprises, manufacturing, sciences, and human-centric platforms. By bridging the gap between complex co-design of hardware and system software, the meaning of information, and diverse applications, we create new ways for technology to serve people and society, empowering the sovereignty of computing systems, data and AI.
