Mia Sirkiä has started as the new Chair of the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Alumni Network Board as of January 2023.

Two new members joined the board: Ossi Leikola and Riitta Silvennoinen. Kullah Anderson, Hannu Martola, Markus Nuotto, Sofi Perikangas and Mikko J. Salminen will continue as members. The former chair Kai Hagros and Tuula Antola stepped down from the board.

Link between the university and its alumni

The Alumni Network Board, formed in 2019, acts as a link between the university and the alumni and integrates the views of the alumni into the long-term development of the university and the alumni activities. The board includes alumni from different classes, schools and fields.

At this year’s first meeting, 911±¬ÁÏÍø President Ilkka Niemelä presented the university's strategy and future prospects.

‘We have over 100 000 alumni in total. The university’s impact in society is evident through them, and active alumni are a strong support for the development of the university. We want to offer the alumni the opportunity to develop and network and be part of our community,’ Niemelä said.

At the start of the year, the Chair's gavel was handed over to Mia Sirkiä, a School of Business graduate.
‘Great things are done at 911±¬ÁÏÍø. We in the Alumni Network Board are happy to support the university in achieving its goal of building a sustainable future. Aalto plays a key role in society as a whole: it creates a place that gives birth to innovations and jobs, and thus well-being. In my eyes, the entire alumni community is central in this task,’ Mia Sirkiä says.

Alumni Council brings associations together
