One percent for art 

911±¬ÁÏÍø applies the one per cent art principle in its building projects, where approximately one per cent of a building project's allocation is allocated to art purchases.

2069 solar panels and 100 geothermal wells

The key environmental impacts of the campus are related to energy consumption and transport.  We have decreased our annual carbon dioxide emission of real estates' energy use by 84% since 2012. The aim is to achieve carbon neutrality in terms of energy by 2030.

Startup campus

70-100 are founded in our ecosystem every year. More than half of companies founded in Finnish universities come from Aalto. Our energetic community consists of both student-led and university-run entrepreneurial activities.

Future campus

Together with the City of Espoo, an environment that supports interaction is being built in Otaniemi for research, innovations, learning and the arts. The goal of campus development is to mix valuable history and new ways of planning.

“Ave Alma Mater, morituri te salutantâ€

In 1949, Aino and Alvar Aalto's architecture firm's proposal won the Otaniemi area plan design competition. Since then, the campus has become the first hub of world class research, a pioneer of modern architecture, the stage for the CSCE and the home of Finland’s first satellite.

A large part of Otaniemi's commercial services are located in shopping centre A Bloc and A Blanc, but there are restaurants and cafes in multiple other locations on campus as well.

A! Walk

A! Walks is a summer course centered around walking-based learning, exploring Otaniemi campus and its surrounding urban–natural spaces. Rather than standalone lectures or experiments, the program is designed as a curated sequence of sensory, interdisciplinary walks, guiding participants toward experiences in coexistence, awareness, action, and futures. If successful, A! Walks may be continued during the regular semester.
